I was born in 1953 in Portsmouth, Virginia, and lived the nomadic life of a Navy brat before settling on a small farm in Middleton, Idaho with my husband Lee. We have lived here for over twenty-five years now, and have two sons and a large assortment of animals. Throughout my life I have loved art and horses, and it is endlessly fascinating to me to find new ways to combine them. I have a BFA in printmaking from Oregon State University, and have attended workshops in equine drawing, sculpture and anatomy with Veryl Goodnight, Shirly Bothum, Sam Savitt, Grant Speed, and Cynthia Christy; and workshops on sculpting the child with Jerry Cox. My preference is for sculpting in bronze, but between major projects I like to work in clay and two-dimensional media as well as crafting stained glass and hitching horsehair . I hope to continue to explore the power, grace and mystery of the horse as well as the intriguing variations of the horse-human bond.
